THE LOOKING GLASS
As I sit amongst The Few the Proud and the Many
I am struck by the familiarity of it all…
Our lives portrayed on the stage of life gifted and raw
The skin we are dressed in polished to its extreme luster
Constantly striving to portray our better halves our better selves
An achingly astute place from within that beckons destiny
No escaping the ultimate journey embarked on by hungry need
As one, our voices drown woes ultimately overcoming droughts
The consuming need drags forth a hope outreaching and drenched
Parched dreams instantly sated by heavenly downpours muse
The awakening of hunger vastly satisfied and fulfilled
Realities flame and essence rises and takes shape in flight
Hope struts and blooms striking all on vanities row of souls
This anointment cast for its outwardly infectious nature
The Few the Proud and the Many we are…
Struck by the familiarity of it still

I love this piece, especially the way you highlighted key words to make them stand out, giving the poem a stronger meaning and a great statement of inspiration, I have used this style myself a few times. thanks for the wonderful write.

Thank you Asha…I am working on a write that I want you read once I have it formatted the way I want it to…thanks for the nice comments and bringing me to this site….

ok… I’m not an artist, or pretend to be one here. I’m just a technical type with a lot of superficial chores to perform here, to make sure things work right for Asha’s members.
Firstly: this is one of those things that makes me smile when everything goes right. I’m glad you were able to do so much with your private site without any help from me. That means my job is getting done right to start with.
Secondly: I love the symmetry I see in this piece. I read this piece and I first notice the circle the words form on the page. My eye is attracted to your use of the page.
Lastly. The words themselves speak to me, the circle I see on the page is rebounded in the thoughts with a description of our lives. Some would call it the circle of life, but here you describe the feeling of the beginning, middle and end, as if they are joined forever in motion. I can relate my own life and starting over many times before, new jobs, new homes, new loves.
Thank you.

OK, I had to come back and read this again after Mez posted his comment. Now I see the Looking Glass the way it was meant to be seen. From birth to adult then birth again, our lives come full circle as if we watched it play the same seen staring into that Looking Glass of our lives.
thanks dear friend for this superb write.
